St. John restaurant honors Irma anniversary with fundraiser for local non profits

Some in the Virgin Islands held fundraisers in honor of the one year anniversary of Hurricane Irma.

On September 6th, Aqua Bistro in St. John hosted a pig roast. The event raised money for two island non profits, St. John Rescue and Island Health and Wellness. Those who helped organize the event tell USVI News it was a wonderful way to come together on a difficult day.

“Having a big party at Aqua Bistro is just a chance for everybody to kind of gather on a day that easier for some than they thought and harder for some than they thought,” Kerrin Buckley said.

The event raised $2,000 for local non profits.
