VITEMA works to keep territory prepared through hurricane season

Staying prepared through hurricane season that’s the focus of the Virgin Islands Emergency Management Agency as they host events throughout the peak season.

Last week VITEMA hosted a table top exercise focusing on operational readiness and a hurricane preparedness checklist.

They met with federal, territorial and private sector partners.

They analyzed gaps and emergency evacuation plans.

It began on St. Croix of Monday and Tuesday of last week and continued on St. Thomas on Thursday and Friday.

“So, the focus on St. Thomas was a little bit different than it was on St. Croix however it all encompassed the hurricane preparedness for the territory,” Garry Green the Public Information Officer with VITEMA said.
