5-year-old girl dead after car crash in St. Croix

A five-year-old girl is dead after a two-car crash in Christiansted, St. Croix. 

It happened Sunday night on Peter’s Rest Road when a Dodge Durango heading east and a Chevy, S-10 pickup trunk heading west collided.

The Chevy merged into the eastbound lane causing the head-on collision. 

The impact cause the Dodge to flip twice, stopping on its’ left side and partially ejecting the passengers in the backseat. 

People at the scene helped push the Dodge off both passengers in the backseat and got them out from under the car. 

One of those passengers, five-year-old Penelope Tutein died as a result of her injuries later at the Juan F. Luis Hospital. 

This case is still open pending any further investigation by Traffic Bureau Division.
