Afternoon brings families to the green

Families flocking to the green.

It was the 29thannual Afternoon on the Green hosted by the University of the Virgin Islands.

There was music, dancing, games, and food.

All proceeds go to the UVI Volunteer Scholarship fund.

UVI students – past and present- got in on the fun.

“This event is always a wonderful event, I love it. The food. All the years I was coming, Sen. Blyden always has good food. I haven’t had a chance to check with Senator Hodge’s food but I am sure it is great,” Sen. Dwyane DeGraff of the 33rdLegislature said.

“This is all about community and culture. You have a lot of folks here who have a passion for cooking just like myself and I’ve been doing it for 10 years and we really really really truly enjoy it,” Sen. Stedmann Hodge Jr of the 33rdLegislature said.

“I always give back. I served as a board, trustee member when I served as the commissioner of education so you know my heart is near and dear to the University of the Virgin Islands and this event is definitely a wonderful event and it speaks volumes to the leadership at the University of the Virgin Islands,” Sen. Donna Frett-Gregory of the 33rdLegislature and UVI Alum said.

This year’s theme is Welcome Back to the Green: Rebuilding Our Dreams in 2019.
