Classes resume at St. Croix schools after vandalism

Students in St. Croix returned to the classroom Wednesday after an early dismissal due to vandalism.

The Department of Education announced an early dismissal Tuesday at Arthur Richards Jr. High/ Alexander Henderson Elementary shared modular campus and Juanita Gardine Elementary School.

They said it was because of a vandalism that happened over Memorial Day Weekend.

The WAPA line supplying water to the shared campus was destroyed- cutting off the campus’s water supply.

At Juanita Gardine, 16 classrooms along with the schools cafeteria and kitchen were burglarized and ransacked.

On Sunday, a fire broke out in the cafeteria of the vacant Charles H. Emanuel Elementary School building.

No injuries were reported.
