With Epstein arrest, his island off St. Thomas comes into question

Wealthy businessman Jeffrey Epstein facing life in jail after being charged this week with sexually abusing dozens of underage girls.

Many of Epsteins’ properties are under a closer investigation including one that lies right in our backyard.

Little Saint James in the US Virgin Islands.

It is an island escape for the billionaire and one authorities *could be looking into as a site where some of the alleged child sex trafficking took place.

Epstein was arrested by federal authorities Saturday on child sex trafficking charges.

On Monday he was charged with sexually abusing dozens of underage girls.

Epstein was charged in a newly unsealed federal indictment with sex trafficking and conspiracy during the early 2000s.

U.S. Labor Secretary and former South Florida US Attorney Alexander Acosta is under increased scrutiny for his handling of the case decades ago.

Acosta broke a plea deal with Epstein and is now facing calls of resignation from Democratic Lawmakers in Washington.

As for Epstein, he faces up to 45 years in prison if convicted of these charges.

In a press conference Monday with the Southern District of New York attorneys say that’s a life sentence for the 66-year-old financier.

He only got 13 months in 2008 after Acosta’s investigation that showed Epstein had paid dozens of girls for nude massages and sex acts in his homes in Palm Beach, New York and here in the US Virgin Islands at his mansion on Little Saint James.

Rumors of Epstein’s so called ‘orgy’ island, or ‘pedophile’ island as it has become known here to locals, have been circulating for years here in the USVI.

Anyone who has been a victim of Epsteins’ is asked to call 1-800-CALL-FBI.

We’ll we talking with the local family resource center this week for advice on what to do for victims and families as we highlight the issue of sex trafficking which they tell me is extremely prominent here on island.
